Stille Wateren.

A collaborative diorama series with Studio HamerHaai.

The Rijkswachters are the initiative of Studio Hammerhaai, a conscious and kind design studio whose main focus is to repurpose industrial materials. A very good example of this are the ‘Rijkswacheters”, which are wooden Robots made from the discarded timber crates, used to store and transport art to the Rijks museum.

Each one of the Rijkswatchers is marked with a unique serial number, that when typed into the Rijks museum website, links you directly to the artifact database. Type in the number and see which piece of art your robot used to protect.

A few times per year I collaborate with Studio Hammerhaai to create a themed series of tiny lit dioramas in the belly of the Rijkswatcher.s Each scene is a limited run of 50 pieces. Once these are sold, there won’t be any more available.

This theme “Stille Wateren” focuses on the marvelous mysteries that lie at the bottom of the sea. I’ve heard it is a magical place where tentacled creatures roamed free.
